Nantahala National Forest

The Nantahala National Forest is cascading waterfalls, roaring whitewater, spectacular old-growth forest, spectacular river gorges and mountains. The Nantahala River is one of the Southeast's most popular whitewater destinations as it winds through the spectacular and picturesque Cullasaja and Nantahala gorges. In addition to the whitewater, Nantahal National Forest provides the breathtaking beauty of the 400 year old Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. The views from Wayah Bald and Whiteside Mountain are a special treat in June when the laurel and azaleas are in full bloom.
