Barbour Ponds State Park

Barbour Ponds features 60 campsites, great fishing for rainbow trout, catfish, crappie and bass, and excellent bird watching for waterfowl and many other species.

In the shadow of spectacular Long's Peak, Barbour Ponds State Park is a quiet retreat conveniently located between Denver and Fort Collins off I-25. This popular park has four ponds that boast some of northern Colorado's best warm-water fishing, especially bass and rainbow trout. Barbour Ponds is home to beautiful and entertaining waterfowl and other wildlife. Classified as a riparian area, the ponds are habitat for large frogs and turtles, many kinds of water fowl and wading birds, and interesting aquatic plants. Cattails, cottonwood trees and willows are habitat for a wide variety of songbirds. Raptors are often seen at and around the park; bald eagles visit in the wintertime. Just 30 miles north of Denver, is convenient, quiet and charming.
