Chickasaw State Park ![]() Situated on some of the highest terrain in west Tennessee, Chickasaw State Rustic Park lies in the midst of 14,384 acres of timberland, 1,280 acres of which are used for recreation. The remainder is state forest managed jointly by the State Forestry Division and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. Once part of a vast area belonging to the Chickasaw Nation prior to the Jackson Purchase of 1818, the park is located in Chester and Hardeman Counties, 18 miles south of Jackson, Tennessee on State Hwy. 100. Among the many attractions of this wooded, idyllic park are rowboats and dreamboats available for rent on Lake Placid; fine catches of bass and bluegill; access to hiking and horseback riding on the more than 50 miles of fire roads and trails within Chickasaw State Forest; an archery range; a golf course (scheduled to open in spring 2000); and a 100-seat restaurant, which is open most of the year.
