George L. Smith State Park

A 412 acre lake allows for fishing boat and canoe rentals. Anglers and canoers will enjoy the mill pond dotted with moss-draped cypress trees, just one part of the ten miles of canoe trails. Four miles of hiking trails allow for park guests to see blue heron, white ibis and the threatened gopher tortoise in the midst of this serene haven.

Recommended Activities

  • Canoe in the mill pond and discover the moss-draped cypress trees.
  • Tour the grist mill, covered bridge and dam of Watson Mill, built in 1880.
