Hell's Gate State Park ![]() Lewiston is often called Idaho's banana belt because of its low elevation and mild winter temperatures. Hells Gate State Park, just outside Lewiston, includes 200 developed acres that border the Snake River. A large beach, play area and miles of hiking and biking trails make the park a popular destination. A covered shelter and group-use area can accommodate 300 people and may be reserved for family outings, weddings, club meetings or company picnics. The hills are perfect for horseback or mountain bike riding. Horse-trailer parking is available at the trailhead.
