This is one of the few state parks named after a woman, and its name is richly deserved. Laura Walker was a Georgia writer, teacher, civic leader and naturalist who was a great lover of trees and worked for their preservation. Full of extravagent wildlife, the Laura S. Walker State Park provides visitors with a plentitude of natural entertainment.

• Try out the championship 18-hole golf course, a recent addition to the park.
• Hike along the lake shore trail.
• Visit in March for the Okefenokee 10K Race.
