Sully Creek State Recreation Area

Located just outside of the historic western town of Medora, Sully Creek provides primitive camping and related facilities for trailriding, canoeing, or hiking.

Corrals are provided for those bringing in their own horses to ride in the Bad Lands. A 4-mile connecting trail allows foot and horse access to the nearby Little Missouri Grassland and Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The park provides canoe access to the Little Missouri River, North Dakota's only State Scenic River. The river vantage offers canoeists a unique perspective of the surrounding Bad Lands splendor. The 274-mile river is best canoed during the spring.

Recommended Activities

  • Canoe down the 274-mile Little Missouri River, North Dakota's only State Scenic River.
  • Equestrians! Bring your horse and ride the miles of trails through Bad Lands splendor.
