Irish Wilderness ![]() Located in the Doniphan District of the Mark Twain National Forest, the Irish Wilderness at 16,000 acres is the largest of the Missouri Wildernesses. This southern Missouri forest is composed of oak-hickory woodlands characterized by disappearing streams, caves, sinkholes, and rolling to steep topography. Bordering the Eleven Point Scenic River, the region boasts Whites Creek Cave, open from May 1 to September 15. The Cave can be accessed from the river access or Whites Creek Trail. Whites Creek Trail may also be accessed from Brawley Pond Spur and Whites Creek Float Camp on the Eleven Point River.
