Piney Creek Wilderness ![]() Located in the Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs District of the Mark Twain National Forest, Piney Creek Wilderness covers 8,000 acres of dense forest. The traditional oak-hickory forest shrouds steep ridgetops and deep hollows while providing shelter for an abundance of wildlife including foxes, raccoons, beavers, muskrats, turtles, and waterfowl. The wilderness has five trails totalling 13.3 miles which take the hiker along ridgetops and slopes and down to hollows 400 feet below. Piney Creek drainage is completely contained within the Wilderness and flows into the James River arm of Table Rock Lake.
