Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park




The 2,884 acres of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park preserve a Civil War battleground of the Atlanta Campaign. The visitor center provides introductory information about the park and the battle. Kennesaw was authorized as a national battlefield site on February 8, 1917.

There are 16 miles of hiking trails available. These trails can be divided into a three and one-half mile loop, five and one-half mile loop, ten mile loop, two mile loop and five and three-tenths mile loop.

Recommended Activities

  • Take a scenic drive or take the park shuttle bus to the peak of Kennesaw Mountain.
  • Hike to Cheatham Hill (the main battlefield) and explore some of the 16 miles of trails.
