Zion National Park ![]() This spectacular cliff-and-canyon landscape and wilderness is full of the unexpected, including the astonishing span of Kolob Arch, the world's longest at 310 feet. Zion is a showcase of geology. Geologic processes have played a very visible role in shaping the terrain here, where an arid climate and sparse vegetation allow the exposure of large expanses of bare rock and thus reveal geologic history in a way not possible in wetter lands clothed in vegetation.
Mule deer, golden eagles, mountain lions and many other desert-adapted species inhabit the 229 square miles of Zion.
