Trails within the park, such as the Apex Trail, follow allong the bottom of Apex Gulch, where a pleasant creek winds across the land. While visiting this park, it's easy to forget the close proximity of big cities. Many scenic vistas and quiet picnic spots provide the perfect getaway. The park boasts interesting geologic features, a wide variety of plants, and a rich history. Apex Gulch was once the path of several wagon trails, some of which led to gold fields.
