Dallas Nature Center

The Dallas Nature Center's mission is "to foster a greater appreciation and understanding of the natural environment through conservation, education, recreation and research." (DNC) The DNC is comprised of 633 acres and is home to hundreds of species of plants and animals, some of them endangered. Ten miles of educational nature trails wind through the park offering visitors insight into local ecology. At an elevation of 755 feet, the Dallas Nature Center is the highest point in the Metroplex.

The park's land is under cooperative management by the DNC, City of Dallas, and Dallas County. It is a non-profit organization which depends on the generosity of members and visitors.

Recommended Activities

  • Hike the challenging Fossil Valley Trail to Cattail Pond for a great workout and a fantastic introduction to the park's ecosystem.
