Carrizo Plain Natural Area

The Carrizo Plain Natural Area is home to a number of endangered species, including the San Joaquin kit fox, Nelson's antelope squirrel, giant kangaroo rat, and blunt-nosed leopard lizard. Pronghorn and tule elk have been reintroduced to this area and are thriving impressively. The wildflower viewing at Carrizo Plain is also quite impressive. During spring, entire square miles of California poppies, cream cups, owl's clover, and other species follow each other through the season.
