Santa Rosa Lake State Park, a high plains Pecos River reservoir, offers a variety of water sports including fishing, boating, and water skiing. Anglers often catch bass, catfish, and walleye. Bring your binoculars and watch the eagles which roost on snags at the water's edge or on small islands on the lake. Also look for scaled quail, mourning dove, and migrating osprey. The nearby city of Santa Rosa is known as the City of Natural Lakes. It is famous for its clean natural lakes where fledgling scuba divers from around the country come to learn scuba diving.
