Coronado National Forest ![]() Wilderness areas within Coronado National Forest include Pajarita Wilderness, Mt. Wrightson Wilderness, Miller Peak Wilderness, Chiricahua Wilderness, Rincon Mountain Wilderness, Pusch Ridge Wilderness, Galiuro Wilderness, and the Santa Teresa Wilderness. The Coronado National Forest covers 1,780,196 acres of southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, with elevations ranging from 3,000 feet to 10,720 feet. Twelve widely-scattered mountain ranges, or "sky islands," rise dramatically from the desert floor, supporting plant communities as biologically diverse as those encountered on a trip from Mexico to Canada. Interpretive trails in and around historic and prehistoric sites allow you to experience the mountains of days past. The eight wilderness areas encompassing 338,536 acres offer solitude and primitive recreation.
