The Big Island, also known as Hawaii, is the youngest, largest most diverse of all the Hawaiian Islands. The island also contains some of the most magical hiking trails in the world. Each day you'll experience scenic locations replete with beaches of multi-colored sand (green, black, and white), as well as tranquil jungles, volcanic craters, multiple waterfalls, and tropical flowers. Add first-class resorts, the "Big Island" hospitality, and our friendly, knowledgeable guides, and you have a getaway that's more like a fantasy.
Your escape begins on the west coast of Hawaii with a visit to Kealakekua Bay, the beautiful and historic site where the 18th century explorer Captain James Cook perished. Heading south, you'll follow a trail overlooking the spectacular Ka'u Coastline to beautiful Mahana Bay. Later, you'll have a chance to dip your toes in the ocean and walk along a green sand beach. Another day finds you at the legendary home of Pele, the goddess of fire, at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Here you'll follow paths across lava landscapes and among ohia lehua trees fragrant with red powder-puff blossoms. At the edge of Halema'uma'u Crater, you'll carefully investigate the steaming Kilauea Caldera and its neighbor, Kilauea Iki Crater.
From the Hilo region, reminiscent of Old Hawaii with its seaport and sugar town, you'll visit the impressive 420ft Akaka Falls. The ti, ginger, tree ferns, orchids, and azaleas are lovely here. This region includes the gorgeous Waipio Valley, "Land of the falling water." By foot you'll explore vibrant landscapes shimmering with waterfalls and rainbows. This hiking getaway also includes an optional day for beach relaxation and snorkeling. Say Aloha (greetings or love) to Hawaii with us!
